And we continue our journey through the marvellous rooms of record collectors and producers around the world. This time we stopped by in another city in Germany called Essen. Moodyzwen is the owner of this lucid and tidy room of the week 53. Let’s get to know him a bit better with a little interview and six more pictures of the room.
Hello Sven, we are happy that we finally figured out to have you here in the gallery. First of all, tell us when you started DJing and record collecting. “ I was born in Essen (Ruhrgebiet), Germany in 1975. My interest in electronic music started in 1993 when I began visiting all kind of parties and clubs. Two years later I bought my first record and fell in love with (deep-)house music. Another two years (and 600 records) later, that was is 1997, I started deejaying. Since then, I played at a lot of parties, e.g. as a support for Josh Wink, Steve Bug, DJ Koze and many more.”
Your record collection looks great. How many records do you own? “exactly 4350 records :) – all of them cataloguized at discogs”
Your setup does not only contain vinyl records. What else do you use in your room?
“2x Technics 1210 MK2, DJM 800 (varies sometimes) , 2 pairs of KRK Rokit, Traktor A6 (but I still prefer playing Vinyl)”
What’s your all time favourite record? “Yeah, it’s always difficult to name only one. Here are my top 5:
Global Communication – The Way (Secret Ingredients Mix)
Lil Louis and The World – I Called U ( The Conversation)
The Mole People – Break Night
Moodymann – I Can’t Kick This Feeling When It Hits
Paperclip People – Throw”
